I have eight ideas for you on how you can go about structuring your content to entice people not only to click on your blog post and read it fully, but also to keep them on the page, reduce your bounce rate, and improve the overall experience, thus increasing engagement.
1. Structure content in terms of things to avoid.
For example, “Three things to avoid” or “Five things to avoid” or even “Top 10 things to avoid.” For instance, in the pets’ niche, you could structure your content as “Five Things to Avoid to Keep Your Dog Healthy” or “Things to Avoid to Prevent Your Dog from Getting Sick.” People are often more motivated by avoiding pain than gaining pleasure. So, structuring your content around tips to avoid certain issues can effectively engage your audience.
2. Structure your content around reasons to do something.
For example, “Five reasons you should…” or “Five reasons you must…” (do something). For instance, in the Internet Marketing niche, you could have “Top Five Reasons Why You Must Create Compelling Content” or in the pets’ niche, “Top Five Things That You Must Do for a Healthy Dog.” This format emphasizes the benefits or importance of taking specific actions.
3. Break down your content into achievable steps.
For example, “…achieve XYZ in five easy steps” or three easy steps. For instance, in the health or bodybuilding niche, you could say “Achieve Your Dream Body in Three Easy Steps.” Breaking down tasks into manageable steps appeals to readers who prefer bite-sized information and actionable advice.
4. Warn against common mistakes.
For example, “The three biggest mistakes that people make” or “The five biggest mistakes that people make.” People are often motivated to avoid pain, so highlighting common mistakes and how to avoid them can attract readers seeking to learn from others’ experiences.
5. Offer ideas or suggestions.
For example, “The three ideas for” or “The five top ideas for.” Providing top ideas or reasons for doing something can inspire readers and offer valuable insights into potential solutions or strategies.
6. Talk about the pros and cons of a particular product, service, or technique from a BIASED perspective.
You could mention the pros and cons of a specific diet if you’re in the dieting niche, for example. Structure the content to lean towards one aspect, such as listing the pros and cons of XYZ and slanting it towards favoring one side more than the other.
7. Talk about the pros and cons of a particular product, service, or technique from an UNBIASED perspective.
Provide the pros and cons without any particular bias, presenting a neutral viewpoint. Look at it objectively, without leaning towards one side or the other, aiming to inform readers rather than sway them in a particular direction.
8. Title and structure your content asking, “Who else wants to achieve XYZ?” (as a question).
For instance, “Who else wants to achieve their dream body in three easy steps?” or “Who else wants to make a full-time income online within the next month?” By implying that many others have achieved the desired result, you provide social proof, enticing readers to engage with your content.
Quick Recap! Here’s a list of all the ways you can structure content to attract visitors and create engagement:
- Things to avoid.
- Reasons why you should or must do something.
- How to achieve XYZ in a specific number of steps.
- The biased pros and cons of something.
- The unbiased pros and cons of something.
- Discussing common mistakes people make.
- Providing top ideas or reasons for doing something.
- Asking who else wants to achieve a specific goal, offering social proof.
