In today’s blog post, I’ll be sharing some insights on how you can extend your stay in Thailand for a more extended period on a tourist visa.

Getting Started

1. 60-Day Tourist Visa: Begin by obtaining a 60-day tourist visa. You can apply for this visa online through the Thai Embassy before entering the country.

2. Extension Process: Once your initial 60 days expire, you have the option to extend your stay for an additional 30 days.

Border Run Strategy

1. Border Run to Cambodia: To further extend your stay, consider a border run to Cambodia. Take a minivan to Cambodia, cross the border, and receive another visa on arrival, typically 30 days for most Western countries.

2. Second Extension: After the additional 30 days, you can extend your stay again, providing you with a total of 90 days from your tourist visa plus extensions.

3. Total Stay: With proper planning, this can accumulate to 150 days in total, combining the tourist visa, extensions, and border run.

Yearly Strategy

1. Yearly Renewal: For those planning an extended stay exceeding 150 days in one calendar year, consider a border run to Cambodia for another 60 days.

2. International Border Run: If you’ve done two land border runs in a calendar year, your next extension requires an international border run by air. Timing this towards the end of the year grants you two additional land border runs in January.
